However, to enjoy this benefit, it is crucial to have an active Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital – CMD) and add the relevant documents to the app. This includes not only the Citizen Card but also the Driving Licence, the Single Vehicle Document (Documento Único Automóvel), among others.
It is important to stress that this measure is only valid within Portugal. So, if you are planning to travel abroad, you will still need to carry your physical documents.
