Following the damage caused by the recent bad weather, exceptional support measures have been approved to assist families, businesses and sectors particularly affected, as well as to speed up recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Key measures include direct support for the reconstruction of owner-occupied and permanent housing, as well as for agricultural and forestry activities, with amounts of up to €10,000 in cases not covered by insurance. This support will be administered by local and regional public authorities.
On the social front, financial support has been approved for the most vulnerable families, as well as support measures for social institutions. For businesses located in the affected areas, temporary exemptions from social security contributions and a simplified lay-off scheme are planned.
On the financial front, temporary moratoriums on mortgage and business loans have been announced, as well as credit lines aimed at bolstering liquidity and supporting the recovery of economic activity.
Administrative simplification measures have also been adopted, allowing reconstruction work to proceed more quickly, along with initiatives to speed up claims processes with insurers, in order to prevent further losses.
Finally, public funds have been made available for the restoration of infrastructure, public facilities and heritage sites, and a coordination structure has been set up on the ground to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
We are closely monitoring the implementation of these measures and would like to express our solidarity with all the individuals, families and communities affected, recognising the significant impact these situations have on their personal, economic and social lives.
